The programme focuses on the practical application of Occupational Testing, helping delegates understand how psychometric assessments support fair candidate selection, test use, and effective hiring decisions.
While no formal qualifications are required, GCSE maths may be helpful, as the course includes simple calculations, formulae, and practice tests used in numerical and ability assessments.

Course Overview
During this Occupational Testing (Ability) training course, you will learn how to:
- Understand how psychometric ability tests work and how they are scored
- Use norm tables and fact sheets to interpret results accurately
- Administer and manage real ability and aptitude tests
- Provide structured candidate feedback and development recommendations
- Understand key test properties such as reliability (accuracy) and validity (relevance)
- Maximise fairness, support the ethical use of psychometric assessments, strengthen legal defensibility under UK law, and improve return on investment in recruitment decisions
Successful completion also allows delegates to apply for inclusion on the British Psychological Society Register of Qualified Test Users as a Test User or Assistant Test User (Ability) and pursue the Assessment Practising Certificate if required.
